Jewellery trends in Indian weddings

Whether it is celebrity weddings, or the standard but big and fat Indian wedding, everyone’s eyes are always on the jewelry and clothes worn by the bride and also the guests. 2018 is about to end, but the 2018-2019 wedding season has just begun. Let us take a quick look at the trends that are expected to rule wedding jewelry in 2019 and beyond.

Mathapatti: This is a traditional Indian jewelry design that was resurrected after they were flaunted by Bollywood celebrities in their wedding and outside. It is a broad band of golden tassels which is usually placed right on the hairline of the wearer, encasing the forehead in a beautiful frame. Most Indian gold jewellery online stores have now begun to display the mathapatti.

Layered Necklace: A single strand of elegant pearls might look good in an understated corporate event. But for a wedding, the more the merrier. That is why 2018 saw the surge in popularity of the multilayered necklace. This allows the wearer to flaunt a ‘heavy’ look on their necklace without having to lug a choker around. You can easily buy a good layered gold necklace online.

Studded Nose Ring: This is in line with the ‘bigger is better’ theme that we saw in most 2018 weddings. The nose ring is usually a small affair, but for wedding jewelry, the ring was oversized, just as it used to be in earlier times. The large ring and the string both gave ample opportunity for the designer to add on his own touch.

Haath Phool: This is an inverted ring with a floral design over it which is slipped through the fingers to rest on the upper part of the palm. This was a different piece from the usual necklaces and ear rings that we usually talk about.
