It is
always recommended that you take your jewelry back to the jewelers once a year
to have them cleaned, so that the sparkle can be brought back to your
ornaments. But did you know that throughout the year, you can easily keep clean
your jewelry at home by yourself? Whether you have purchased Indian gold jewellery online or you
have purchased gold earrings for women
at a local jewelry shop, you can easily clean them at home. And you don’t even
need to buy special chemicals or specific soap solutions for this. Let us tell
you about three simple ways to clean your jewelry at home using things you
already have.
Baking Soda –
This is a common ingredient found in most homes. It works wonderfully for
removing the tarnish that is usually seen on silver ornaments. You need to
first make a paste of baking soda and water. The paste needs to be applied on
the jewelry and then rubbed gently, and then rinsed off. If you want to use
this paste for gold jewelry, all you need to do is add a few drops of vinegar
to the paste. Please avoid using this paste on pearls or other gemstones.
Beer –
If you have gold jewelry sans any gemstones, then beer also works very well for
cleaning. The jewelry needs to be cleaned with a soft cloth dipped in beer,
after which a dry cloth can be used to dry it off.
Ketchup –
For surfaces which are smooth (like a plain wedding band) you can just dip it
into a small bowl of ketchup, like you would your favorite snacks. But if the
jewelry has detailing on it, then a toothbrush with soft bristles needs to be
used to push the ketchup into the crevices and also while rinsing it later.
